Edgar County State's Attorney Matt Sullivan announces candidacy for Circuit Court Judge

EDGAR COUNTY -- Veteran Edgar County State's Attorney Matt Sullivan recently announced his intention to seek the office of Circuit Court Judge in the Fifth Judicial Circuit next year.

“I've worked hard in my career to be able to take this step and pursue an opportunity to serve on the circuit bench,” said Sullivan, who made his announcement to friends and supporters at Andrew's at the Westbrook in Paris “Historically, we have been very fortunate in the Fifth Circuit to have a fine collection of smart, honest and effective jurists. It is my aspiration to join these ranks and continue my public service in this way.”

The judgeship Sullivan will be seeking is a vacancy created by the retirement of Circuit Judge Dale Cini. Judge Richard Scott was appointed to the circuit-wide judgeship vacancy, returning to the Circuit Court after having previously retired. Judge Scott will serve out the remainder of Judge Cini's term of office which expires in December of 2010. The Fifth Judicial Circuit covers the counties of: Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Edgar and Vermilion.
